合理的住宿

原理上大学 will provide 合理的 accommodations to students with documented disabilities or medical 条件 as required by law. Housing accommodations that are considered 合理的 are those that do not fundamentally alter the nature of the institution’s policies or that do not place an undue hardship on the Institution, 它的设施, 或者是学生/教职员工. 住宿可能包括, 但不限于无障碍住房房间, 优先或调整房间或室友分配, 房间里修改, 饮食住宿, and service or emotional support animal accommodations (for which there is a separate policy here). Unless a disability is readily apparent or otherwise known to 无障碍促进者 or 教务长, students seeking housing accommodations need to provide 适当的 documentation of their disability, 条件, 或需要. Documentation requirements are listed below and may be provided in any written format that best communicates the following:

All accommodation requests shall be accompanied by documentation as described above. 请注意, that while a student may request an accommodation at any time during the academic year, Principia is less able to meet housing accommodation requests once room assignments have been determined for a given semester. Students are strongly encouraged to submit their housing accommodation requests before July 1 for fall semester and before December 1 for spring semester.

The College treats accommodation requests as confidential as possible under the circumstances. Supporting documentation is maintained in accordance with HIPPA standards of confidentiality. Disclosure of accommodation information will be limited to authorized Principia personnel directly involved in reviewing and implementing the accommodations. 接受住宿的学生可以和他们的教授交谈, 教练, 以及社区中的其他人来支持他们的成功.

审核及批准程序

A housing accommodations request is an interactive process between the requesting student, 无障碍促进者 , 和其他相关工作人员确定有效的原则, 适当的, and 合理的 accommodations that support the student’s access to and enjoyment of residential life on campus. 无障碍促进者 , works directly with the student to review their request and gather additional information as needed to better understand and accommodate the student’s needs. Accommodation decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and typically made within 10 business days of receiving the student’s request.

上诉程序

Students who feel that a provided accommodation or the denial of an accommodation is not 适当的, 合理的, 有效的, 或者是歧视性的, 可提出上诉, using the Housing Accomodations Appeals Form to the 住宿 Appeals Committee, 其中包括学生主任或指定人员, 教务助理院长, 总法律顾问. The appeals process will provide an opportunity for the student to present additional information or documentation. 住宿申诉委员会的决定为最终决定.
